Adams Carvalho

So, this is a bit of weirdness for me. I've recently gotten really into the artwork of Brazilian illustrator Adams Carvalho. His style is to me such a perfect balance of robust print-work and modernistic pop art that I decided to digitally stitch together a few of his pieces as backgrounds for personal use. This one had me a bit carried away to the point that it may satisfy the requirements for this gallery folder of being both derivative work and decently successful in my intentions. If not, well, then no harm done.

My main focus in this image was to create a bridge between the two works where none had previously existed. Stylistically, the two are similar and I chose the two specifically for their conjoined complimentary pallet, which made it easier, but the lines of the two images didn't initially flow together all to well. Thusly, I manually extended the background patterning over the implied tree-line of the monochromatic. Another point of pride in this image is the suggestion of depth using somewhat illusory drop-shadows. The green foreground is set before the now-red tree-line and the now-red tree-line is set before the green sky; a feature I felt was lost when I first extended the pattern. A few extra layer effected clouds around the edges were also added in an attempt to bring the two images together a little more.
